Blogmas Day 7: Stop biting me!

Hello,

So I decided to do two days for Blomas because I couldn't think of anything interesting to put on my second blog, so Ta Dah! You get a two day stretch on Style Steal.

One thing that a lot of us have a habit with is biting our nails. I was one of them, still am at times :S but I have developed a weird love with longer natural nails, and as someone who never used to care about my nails or how they looked, it seems I have come a pretty long way!

These days biting my nails seems ludicrous, and on top of that I only have 4 on each hand rather than the regular 5 (Just found a blog post to write about) so keeping them in a "decent" state has become an interest, plus I have begun a love of nail polish that one day will probably destroy my bank balance, as if I didn't love enough things.

Todays nails have been coated in Avon's Ruby slippers nail polish although I feel it makes my hands look a little old... bit weird. (A classic red with silver and red glitter mixed in. It's one of my Christmas colors)
Instagram @StyleSteal123

I'm yet to have a manicure though, I always feel that the nail technician will try and prompt me to get false nails which I don't want and I'm not the best of people to say no, so knowing my luck I'll enter the never ending ritual of false nails. So it's au naturel for me. For now anyway!

What I want to know is, if you stopped biting your nails, how did you do it. Do you wear false nails? or Au naturel? And lastly How often do you manicure?

Let me know in the comments, Facebook or Twitter x

I hope you've enjoyed this short and simple post.

Till next time

Blogmas day 6: Pout

Hello

So Day 6 is here! Only 18 more days to go till Blogmas is over :( Today's post is back to beauty, specifically back to +Avon UK and their lip products this time!

As an ex Avon rep 2 years ago I recieved a phonecall telling me about their new little red dress collection. I jumped all over it, and gained a new favorite lipstick. Pout. I love it, I loved it so much I bought three just incase they stopped selling the collection. They did so clever me for once :P

Now if you follow me on Instagram or Twitter you will have seen the post where I posted a picture of the lipstick on, if you want to see it then click one of the links above, you'll find it there!

Pout is a very natural nude-ish peachy pink, it's heaven in a lipstick, I paired it with +Avon UK Plump pout lipgloss in pink pucker, they go together really well and the colors fit my skin tone really well.

I also recently bought a new lip liner and gloss from there, so if you want a review of those then let me know in the comments, Twitter or Facebook

Safe to say Pout has become a staple color for me and I need to find an identical color for it as i'm about to run out! If I could have it perma-tattooed to my lips I probably would...Actually I take that back I wouldn't go through the pain :S

Anyways if you have the opportunity to try out any of Avons lipstics go for it! Most of them are amazing

Blogmas Day 4: High Street Fairy Lights

Hello

Well yesterday I may have accidently missed blogmas :S ooops but I was christmas shopping for over 6 hours and well didn’t have enough time to post a blog and get it to you guys and girls :S Sorry

But todays blogmas post is going to be all about Christmas shopping!!!

Me and my friend went to +liverpooloneofficial (Liverpool One) and well it got me well in the mood for Christmas festivities. I just wish I’d taken pictures of everything but I did take one! If I go back then I will post it on my Instagram for you so go over and follow me on there to see updates of Christmasy stuff!

The high street is one of the best places for their displays, outdoor lights and general christmasyness (making up words again)

It really makes me want to spend all my money, so high street, your displays are working. Plus I get all giddy when I see a bit of tinsel and a twinkling light :S Bit weird.

Liverpool has yet again got the little “german” inspired markets selling their foods and gifts  in the wooden hutlike pop up stores….yay, I want to go back already..

The only thing I am missing this year is the cold cold weather, sounds weird but it doesn’t feel like winter at the moment, more like autumn, what’s it like where you are? I am praying for a little bit of snow before the end of the year even though it can be a big pain in the arse to deal with. Britain doesn’t exactly cope with snow very well….. How stupid!

Anyway I think I have rambled on enough, I’m just excited for Christmas now, but before I go here is a list of the shops which had my favorite window displays.

River Island
Superdry
New look
JD sports
Starbucks

And they are all I can think of. If you’re in the area make sure you pop into Liverpool One even if it’s just to have a nosey around. Have fun shopping for your loved ones and I’ll be back tomorrow with another Blogmas post on my other blog [Click here]

Alternatively you can just follow me on Facebook or Twitter and wait anxiously for the link :P either way I hope you’re enjoying them. Let me know in the comments x x x

Holidays are coming #Blogmas Day 2

Hello,

Welcome to day 2 of #Blogmas if you haven’t read day one then (Click here) it’s on my personal blog as I’m alternating the days between the two.

So Blogmas is leading us up to Christmas, and well, like most people Christmas is probably one of my favourite times of the year! From about the 20th of December, it’s the lead up that frustrates me, the stores are packed with people shopping like they’ll not be able to leave their house for weeks, taking all the good stuff!! Present buying and never knowing what to actually get someone, I even wrote a Christmas Gift Guide on my old blog and I still don’t know what to get people…Where’s the logic in that!.

Ok but it’s not all Doom and Gloom! I love winter nights and Christmas films, not so much Christmas music because they overplay it and it never changes…. Just give me a name tag with
scrooge on…

It’s part of me being brought up in a religious family, we never really got excited for Christmas once I got older, it’s like all the fun was sucked out of it after the realization (Spoiler alert) that Santa was no more than a cruel joke to get me to behave…it didn’t work!

But back to the cold nights, I love an oversized jumper, actually mines so oversized I drown in it, but that’s the point it’s not a “fitted” oversized jumper it’s a man’s XXL! It’s huuugge, I never go out in it, I just get comfy in it behind closed doors instead, over my pyjamas : Curling up on the couch with a good cup of tea! Best feeling ever or hot chocolate if I can be  bothered making it!

A little something like these

Christmas Day and Boxing day make my life! I’m a big family gal, and with 4 brothers, 2 step brothers, 4 step sisters, 6 cousins two sets of parents and everything else in between it should be a big family day, unfortunately I only see the two sets of parents and 2 of my cousins around actual Christmas time, just writing that list of people down got me really excited.

We all have family we don’t see, my stepbrothers and sisters live with their mum, and it was their dad that married mine so I never really get to see them, I haven’t seen my biological brothers in a year or so, they live with their dad, and I’m all on my lonesome because I live with nan and her husband (One set of parents) So whilst Christmas is a family time, I don’t really get to see much family, but I am grateful I have them in my life and I know that some people this Christmas aren’t so lucky and spending on their own. Which the thought has now made me pretty sad

Here's the coca cola advert just to get you excited!!!

But I think this has been a long enough post! Keep an eye out HERE for tomorrows installment or I’ll be posting all the links to FB and Twitter, so you can check there too!

Are You on Trend #AW2013

Hi guys

Today's Saturday Style steal I’m going to be going over some of the latest A/W 2013 trends on the market!

Here we go…

Tartan, I personally love a bit of tartan, it can give that vintage edge to your outfit, and whilst some of us don’t mind layering ourselves in the stuff, there are some of us (ME) who just like subtle pieces to add to my collection. So if you’re a tartan lover you may like some of these things below

This tartan coat gives you the A/W trend with an edge, the coat is from Boohoo.com and I love it, I wish I had it but I don’t. Anyways, the leather (or faux leather) sleeves subtle the tartan down so it’s not too in your face and makes it easier to style with different things :D

If the coat wasn't for you how about a tartan skater skirt, again I wish I had this, but again I do not… What is wrong with me!!! This skirt is from SoInFashion.com and it’s £15!!! It's also what I call a “classic piece” it reminds me a little of the tartan skirt in “Mean Girls” but it’s longer and flowier [not even a word]. Perfect with 10 denier tights (Another trend) and possibly a biker boot or an ankle boot to shake things up a bit. I’d also pair this with a leather jacket or a classic black winter coat, either way in my head it looks amazing! If you've got it or something similar let me know!

Ok so all that tartan too much for you, then give yourself a flash of the tartan trend with this belt! Simple, on trend and will keep your pants from falling to your knees and baring to the world your knickers…how embarrassing.. I’d recommend this to be put on black or white trousers for that pop of colour. Not a trousers girl, then how about a classic black skater skirt, or a pencil skirt? You might even just… just get away with it around your waist but it depends how thick it is on… if you've got it let me know, or send a picture to FB or Twitter.

That’s enough about tartan for now! Let’s look at the next trend!
The winter has come and hunted us down and it’s blowing a gale and raining like mad, but have you got your winter coat on? Have you even bought one this year? Now style steal is all about finding a good ole bargain, but when it comes to certain things, I don’t mind pushing the boat out financially and spending that little extra.

This first coat from Karen Millen comes in at £125 and for a coat by a decent designer I’m not complaining at the price, It’s all about the red and tan coats this winter and they’re looking mighty fine if you ask me! I love ‘em and I’m not the biggest trend person, but the A/W trends are bang up my street!.

This next coat has a invisible price tag, I couldn't seem to find it for this particular coat, so just look and go “oooooohhhh” I love a tan coat, and if I weren't so accident prone and slightly messy I’d own it, but for this year my coat is a black and white tartan. Instagram is HERE. This coat reminds me of one I had a few years back that was black (And far too cheap to last …*Cries*) however this one looks made of better quality materials, if I was to guess a price I would say no more than £170 which for a decently made coat that will last a few years, is not a bad price tag.

Ok, Ok I’m nearly done! I promise.

So you know before when I said I love the trends this season… Here’s one I do not love! The pointed shoe!

Yes whilst shoes are my guilty pleasure and I love perusing through online shopping sites looking at shoes I could probably never afford, the pointed show is crossed off my list! I hate them, don’t get me wrong the designs are lovely it’s just the point at the tip that crosses my line! I look at them and automatically think BUNIONS! And if you don’t know what a bunion is, then it’s a growth, bit like bone, but more gristle on the side of your big toe (normally) that grows because of excessive wear of high heels or tight shoes. Pointed shoes are both! The squeeze your toes in and squish them, they’re uncomfortable in most circumstances and the only thing they’re good for is to kick someone in. That point could be dangerous! So you may have guessed a pointed shoe will not be on my foot this Christmas, next Christmas or any time after that, even if you paid me to!

Here are some other trends you might want to check up on:

  • Oversized Jumpers
  • Knee-Thigh high boots <3
  • Pencil Skirts
  • Pvc Leather skirts are making a come into the fashion world :S
  • CC creams
  • Burgandy, in all it’s glory (including makeup)
  • Christmas jumpers/PJ’s/Onesies/Everything

I hope you enjoyed this post and don’t forget to follow for the next one and share to all your friends.

I can be your friend too! I’m on FB, TWITTER and INSTAGRAM.

Just a bit of FUN: 40 beauty questions TAG!!

40 BEAUTY QUESTIONS TAG!!!!

How many times do you wash your face daily?

Personally I wash mine twice daily - once in the morning and once about an hour before I go to bed.

What skin type do you have? (dry, oily or combination)

I have combination skin, although during winter it is slightly dryer.

What is your current facial wash?

Clearisil - Blemish and Marks wash and mask

Do you exfoliate?

Every other day. Every day is too much for my poor sensitive skin

What brand do you use?

Clearisil. It's a soft exfoliater so it's personally better for me.

What moisturiser do you use?

I use Simple - Kind to Skin hydrating light moisturizer

Do you have freckles?

I do, and I weirdly like them :P

Do you use eye cream?

Occasionally, although I haven't yet developed my routine yet I'm 22 I want to grow old gracefully not artificially!

Do you or did you have acne prone skin?

Never had acne prone skin, although my skin has changed now and I'm getting slightly more frequent breakouts :S

Did you ever use ProActiv?

Never.

What foundation do you use?

Rimmel match perfection - 101 Classic Ivory

How about concealer?

Collection 2000 lasting perfection - Light

Do you know your undertone colour?

Yes and it's Reddish... I think :P

What do you think of fake eyelashes?

I like them, I don't wear them often but when I do it reminds me how much I like them. I prefer natural ones as my lashes are sparse and short :(

Did you know that you are supposed to change your mascara every 3 months?

Yes - But I don't treat it as religion

What brand of mascara do you use?

I have a few, currently, Avon, Rimmel, Clinique and Maybeline

Sephora or Mac?

Sephora - Has to be, we only have one in the country (I think) but there is more variety than Mac, and the prices are slightly better

Do you have a MAC Pro-Card?

Yes I do.... it hardly ever gets used though

What make-up tools do you use in make-up application?

What makeup tools don't I use. Mac 187 for foundation, fingers for concealer, Real Techniques (Face and Eyes) for contouring and eyeshadow

Do you use make-up base/primer for the eyes?

Nope,

For the face?

Nope...... :S

What is your favourite eye shadow? (Colour or Shade)

Probably Mac. Carbon. I like dark sultry looks but for a cheaper option it's have to be my mocha latte palette from Avon. Good 4 shades for neutral looks. And it's buildable!

Do you use pencil or liquid eye-liner?

Liquid liner hates me so I mainly use pencil or gel.

How often do you poke your eyes with an eye liner pencil?

ALL THE TIME!!! I've had enough practise too!

What do you think of pigment eye shadows?

Can't really say...

Do you use mineral make-up?

Not yet. But this question reminded me I wanna try them

What is your favourite lipstick?

Avon little red dress collection - Vino Royale or Rimmel Kate moss... the dark purple one (I can't remember it's name!!!)

How about lip gloss?

Anything plumping.. Soap and Glory is a good one.

What is your favourite blush?

I can't really say, I'm more of a contour than blush - I use boujois paris bronzer ( the chocolate bar one)

Do you buy make-up on e-bay?

No. Probably one of the places I wouldn't buy makeup from

Do you like drug store make-up?

Yes. Why not like them, some of them are on par with high end and at a better price. (I'm guessing drugstore makeup is makeup sold in boots/superdrug.... ??)

Did you ever consider taking make-up classes?

I did take them :P

Are you clumsy in putting on make-up?

Other than the occasional eye poke to myself, no. I'm better at other peoples though.... if you take away false lashes.. I can never get the hang of putting fake lashes on somebody else.. :S

Name a make-up crime that you hate?

Sleeping in it - NOOOOOOOOOOO Don't do it!!!!!

Do you like colourful shades of make-up (lipstick, eye shadow) or neutral tones?

Both, Give me colorful palette any day! I'll be gone for hours!

Which celebrity always has great make-up?

Taylor swift.

If you could leave the house with just ONE Make-up item, what would you use?

Eyeliner. As long as thats in my purse, I'm good to go

Could you ever leave the house without any make-up on?

Yes I do it all the time... I don't see a problem with makeupless people. You were born without it on, you can live without it on!

Do you think you look good even without any make-up on?

I'm proud of the way I look with or without makeup, and no one can tell me any different so there :P

In your opinion, what is the BEST make-up line?

Hmmmmm. Hmmmmm. I don't think there is one... Although sleek, mac and Chanel do pretty well for themselves.

What do you think of Make-up?

It's there if I want it. I enhances my features when I want to enhance them and it's not the be all and end all of life. Although I enjoy using it and testing out different products I'd quite happily spend my money on clothes or a house :S

So Guys and Girls, I decided to do a TAG! and I tag YOU! If you don't blog then pick your favourite question/s from the tag and leave them as a comment on here, my page on FB or tweet me!!!

I hope you enjoyed it and I'll be back soon

24 hour Micro-Chip: Avon Cosmetics Review

Hey,

I have recently been reviewing Avons SpeedDry in Sateen.
Unfortunately I’m not impressed. It took 3 coats just to get a decent nail coverage, the nail brush was a little too thick making the polish well, not like polish more like a gooey texture however I did like the “SpeedDry”  effect and it did seem to dry quickly and I liked the color too (probably why I bought it) it’s like a metallic bronze color. Unfortunately it did chip within less than 24 hours which left me a little bummed :(

Second Coat

Final Dry Coat

I’m not all about slating a product, but I like to be honest. I have used other Avon nail polishes in the past and have had better experiences

If you have any nail polishes that you would recommend then why not let me know on FB or Twitter! It’s be nice to hear from some of you x
